  • Beyoncé won two NAACP Image Awards for her album “Cowboy Carter.”
  • Blue Ivy Carter won for her voice acting in “Mufasa: The Lion King.”
  • The mother-daughter duo both worked on the Disney film, which was released in December.
  • The awards show will air Saturday on BET and CBS.

Beyoncé Knowles Carter and her daughter Blue Ivy Carter are adding more accolades to their names with both Carters earning trophies at this year’s NAACP Image Awards.

The 35-time Grammy winner took home the award for outstanding female artist and outstanding album for her history-making project “Cowboy Carter” during a virtual, non-televised ceremony for the awards. She was also nominated for outstanding soul/R&B song for her single “16 Carriages.”

Meanwhile the 13-year-old powerhouse won outstanding character voiceover performance for the Disney movie “Mufasa: The Lion King,” in which she made her feature film debut. The mother and daughter joined forces for the “Lion King” prequel that hit theaters in December.

Beyoncé reprised her role as Queen Nala from the 2019 movie. King Simba was voiced again by actor and singer Donald Glover. And Blue voiced the character named Kiara, who is the daughter of both.

Of course, the movie was just one of Beyoncé’s many creative endeavors in the past year. The NAACP wins come on the heels of her historic Grammy night, where she took home best country album and album of the year for “Cowboy Carter.”

As fans know, Beyoncé first announced “Cowboy Carter” during a surprise Super Bowl commercial in February 2024 when she released singles “16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold ‘Em.” The 27-track album became a huge catalyst for the recent spotlight on Black country artists and the genre’s roots.

The theme of this year’s Image Awards is “Our Stories, Our Culture, Our Excellence.” The ceremony will air on Saturday on BET and CBS.
