Kendrick Lamar and Drake: A look at the most storied celebrity feuds

Celebrity feuds are nothing new — but sometimes it seems as though they sprung out of thin air. Tensions between A-listers can range from playful, or even temporary, to downright dirty. For starters, the beef between Kendrick Lamar vs. Drake will go down as one of the most famous (or perhaps, infamous?) rap battles ever.

Kendrick Lamar, the clear winner in the feud, won five Grammy awards for his diss against the Canadian rapper and went on to perform the fan-favorite song at during the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show. The Billboard No. 1 hit, “Not Like Us,” won record of the year and song of the year at the Grammy Awards earlier this month, only the second rap song with either honor in the show’s history.

Drake and Lamar were clashing because of years of subliminal comments between the two via songs dating as far back as 2013, in Lamar’s song “Control.”Then on Drake and fellow rapper J. Cole’s 2023 track “First Person Shooter,” Cole rapped that he, Drake and Lamar were the “big three” of rap music. On rapper Future and Metro Boomin’s March song “Like That,” Lamar fired back, distancing himself from the trio (rapping forget “the big three … it’s just big me”) and said, apparently in reference to Drake: “It’s time for him to prove that he’s a problem.”

Rappers Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj have also had their fair share of pointed lyrics at one another in their songs. Megan ignited somewhat of a musical feud with her “Hot Girl Summer” collaborator in 2024, and opened up about her relationship with Minaj in an interview with Billboard.

“I still to this day don’t know what the problem is,” Megan said in the interview about the alleged fued. “I don’t even know what could be reconciled because I, to this day, don’t know what the problem is.” In February 2024, Megan topped the Billboard Hot 100 with the scathing diss track “Hiss,” which saw the Grammy-winning emcee allegedly take aim at Minaj and her husband Kenneth Petty. In one lyric, Megan references the sex offender legislation Megan’s Law (Petty was convicted of attempted first-degree rape in 1995, while Minaj’s brother Jelani Maraj is also a registered sex offender.)

Minaj fired back with her own song “Big Foot.” The snarky track is filled with barbs that skewer Megan’s personal life, including the death of Megan’s mother, Holly Thomas, and Megan’s injuries from fellow rapper Tory Lanez shooting her in the feet in July 2020.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vin Diesel have long disliked each other despite on-screen chemistry in the “Fast & Furious” franchise movies. But most recently, the two appeared to leave all that in the past.

In June 2023, “Furious” fans saw peace at last when Johnson announced his official return to the “Fast & Furious” franchise and at the same time, revealed that his long-standing feud with Vin Diesel ended secretly a year prior. “Last summer, @vindiesel and I put all the past behind us,” Johnson wrote on the Instagram post. “We’ll lead with brotherhood and resolve – and always take care of the franchise, characters & FANS that we love.”

At the time, Johnson also said of the beef:”In terms of the why, despite us having our differences, me and Vin, we have been like brothers for years.” Most recently, Diesel surprised viewers by addressing Johnson during his presentation of the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement award at the 2025 Golden Globes.
